The leading eCommerce and web services player, headquartered in the U.S., is highly profitable, especially when it comes to Amazon Business. Launched in 2015 and replacing AmazonSupply as an Amazon B2B eCommerce platform, Amazon Business enables business people and companies to trade their products and services.
Another big global player in terms of B2B eCommerce and thus a serious competitor of Amazon is Alibaba. Headquartered in China, the conglomerate holding company offers various B2B, B2C and C2C eCommerce services, both in Greater China and internationally. With a market share of 30% in 2018, Alibaba dominates the Chinese B2B eCommerce market and is now expanding its operational base to India, Europe and the U.S. The second largest player in China is Global Sources.
Other major key players on the global B2B eCommerce market are – amongst others – IndiaMart, Mercateo and Rakuten, that are the largest B2B eCommerce companies in India, Germany and Japan respectively.
