Brazilian eCommerce is flourishing – with one particular online store far ahead
According to Statista’s Digital Market Outlook, the Brazilian eCommerce has generated revenues of US$14.9 billion in 2018 and is forecast to reach a total revenue of US$16.9 billion in 2023.
Clearly leading the top ten ranking of the most successful online stores in Brazil – in terms of the generated revenue – is Magazine Luiza (magazineluiza.com.br). The famous retailers’ online shop is mainly known for its Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances and Furniture segments and has managed to achieve a turnover of US$1.6 billion in 2018. Second ranks the eCommerce sporting goods conglomerate Netshoes (netshoes.com.br), with a revenue of US$1.2 billion in 2018. The online store of the Brazilian retail chain Lojas Americanas – americanas.com.br takes the third place in the top 10 ranking. In 2018, net sales of americanas.com.br reached US$1.1 billion and were generated from the sale of goods from various segments. Casasbahia.com.br follows at a significant gap, with US$594 million. The sales of the Brazilian retailer Casas Bahia come mainly from the Furniture & Appliances category. Overall, the top ten online stores in Brazil have generated total revenues of US$6.7 billion in 2018.
