Online shopping in the U.S. and Mexico
What are the favorite online stores of Americans and Mexicans, and why do they order online?
What are the reasons that consumers choose to buy a product online rather than at a brick-and-mortar store? Do Mexican consumers differ from U.S. consumers in their reasoning? The Statista Global Consumer Survey helps to answer these questions.
In Mexico as well as in the U.S., it is very important for consumers that the product is delivered directly to their homes. 65% of the respondents in Mexico and 63% of the respondents in the U.S. chose this answer as their first reason. In the U.S., 60% of consumers find that a cheaper price is also a good reason to buy an item online. For Mexicans, it is important not to be restricted by a stationary shop’s opening hours.
The Statista Global Consumer Survey also provides answers to other eCommerce-related questions. At which online stores do Mexican online shoppers frequently make purchases? Amazon and Walmart, America’s largest and most popular online stores, have already ranked second and third among the most popular online stores in Mexico. However, a local online store, mercadolibre.com.mx, still ranks first.
Note: mercadolibre.com.mx and cinepolis.com are not presented on ecommerceDB.com because they have a different business model.
