In Spain amazon.es sells more than its four closest competitors combined
Amazon announced last year that the company’s revenue in the third quarter of 2019 amounted to US$70 billion (€63 billion) worldwide, an increase of 24% compared to the same period in 2018. The eCommerce giant is still the market leader, with its revenue being significantly higher than that of other platforms like China’s Alibaba.
In Spain, amazon.es is also the king of online sales. According to estimates from ecommerceDB, the company’s revenue reached €2.17 billion in 2018, more than that of its four closest competitors put together. The website of the Spanish department store group El Corte Inglés, with a revenue of €451 million in 2018, ranked second.
