On- or offline? eCommerce meets Fashion

Many clothing and clothing accessories stores have invested early in their own online shops – do the consumers make use of this opportunity?

4 percent of the respondents always buy their clothing and apparel items online, followed by 15 percent that are ordering on a very frequently base and 31 percent that are ordering on an occasionally base. Summed up 50 percent of respondents shop for apparel online on a regular base. A behaviour that is connected to the consumers’ age?

Yes, responds vary by age. 7 percent of respondents under 30 buy all their apparel online, 21 percent very frequently. The result for the age range from 30 to 59 years is comparable to overall results. Consumers that are 60 years and older tend to shop offline. Results that are – to some point – transferable to the questions if they would consider making all their clothes shopping online.

Respondents between 18 and 29 years are following the eCommerce trend – over one third of the respondents say they could do their clothes shopping online only. 16 percent above the average. While the range from 30 – 59 years is again comparable to the overall results, only 9 percent of the respondents that are 60 years and older respondent that they could do their clothes shopping online only.
