Gender Distribution of Online Shopping Categories in India

The product groups that online shoppers in India have bought most often in the past 12 months were published by Statista Consumer Insights in 2022. The results are distributed on the respective gender of survey respondents and shown as follows.
Strikingly, most of the displayed product categories have a bias toward male consumption, as opposed to female consumers in India who make up the smaller share in every item group but one. Cosmetics & Body Care was purchased by respondents with a female rate of 51%, which is at the same time also the most balanced product category in regard to gender.
Men are most likely to buy Consumer Electronics, here 65% of respondents who opted for this category are male. Similarly, Shoes was purchased by consumers with a male share of 62%.
The remaining categories lean toward male consumers, ranging from 52% in Stationery & Hobby Supplies to 58% in entertainment media.
