Age Distribution of Online Shopping Categories in China
According to a survey by Statista Consumer Insights, the purchasing preferences of online shoppers in China vary by age group. Product category with the highest percentage for the youngest age group, 18-24, is Books, Movies, Music & Games at 22%.
As for the 25-34 age cohort, it is Consumer Electronics coming on top with 37%. Data shows that consumer priorities change when we move to older age cohorts, as Drugstore & Health Products is the top category for the 35-44 age group with 28%.
Same product category takes the lead for the next age group, 45-54, this time in a tie with Sports & Outdoor Products at 23%. Lastly, consumers aged 55-64 also have Drugstore & Health Products as the most purchased category at 7%, along with Household Appliances having the same percentage.
