Age Distribution of Online Shopping Categories in Japan

Data provided by Statista Consumer Insights reveals online shopping habits across various age groups in Japan. Among the youngest online shoppers included in the research, Bags & Accessories is the most popular product category, as 16% of those aged 18-24 have made a purchase in the past 12 months, while it is the least bought product category among online shoppers aged 55-64 with 17%. As for online shoppers aged 25 to 34, Drugstore & Health Products is the top category, with 19% having made a purchase.
Moving on, we see that Stationery & Hobby Supplies is the leading category for online shoppers aged 35-44, with 28% having made a purchase, whereas Clothing is the most purchased category for those aged 45-54, with 31%. For the oldest age groups, on the other hand, Food & Drinks is the most purchased category, with 25% of those aged 55-64 having made a purchase, while only 6% of those aged 18-24 purchase this category online.
