Some experts believe Amazon could eventually acquire TikTok, gaining access to TikTok’s massive Gen Z user base and cementing its position in social commerce.
Roee Zelcer, former head of sales at TikTok, hinted that this partnership could be a precursor to an acquisition, describing the two companies as “frenemies” with significant potential for a deeper collaboration.
Even without a formal acquisition, the partnership is a strategic win for both companies. TikTok can leverage Amazon’s credibility in the eCommerce world, while Amazon benefits from TikTok’s social reach. This collaboration also presents a challenge to other fast-growing Chinese platforms like Shein and Temu.
